Video #4, let’s get moving Up and Up and Up. This video continues our adventure in exercises to help to improve our technique in Tango. This video advances the articulation of the foot by using the floor. It might look a little bit like video #2 and that’s good. Have you been doing those exercises? Then you are prepared for these too.
The goal, as stated in the video, is to articulate the feet by thinking of this movement as incorporating the entire body. Your entire body will assist you to rise on those metatarsals. Up and Up and Up! You can imagine your spine moving you up and let the “down” happen on its own. Another image that has worked really well with dancers is to imagine that your belling button is moving up and up and up; not out in front of you but up through the inside of you! And again, allow the down to happen as a consequence. I want this movement to feel “easy” not effortful and articulating the feet.
Don’t overdue it! Again check to make sure those ankles are still in line with your leg, and, of course, don’t do this if you feel pain in any part of your foot or leg.
